Updating Shepherd Agent

Shepherd agent can be updated by running following command in an powershell/terminal. You need administrator privileges to run this command. Make sure to start powershell "Run as Administrator" and prefix the command with sudo for Linux.
  1. shepherdctl self-update
It will download the latest application and start the update process. If you are already running the lastest version, this command does nothing.

Troubleshooting

This process can fail because of the following reasons.
  1. The network is too slow and shepherd can not be downloaded before timeout occurs. Please check your network if you notice a timeout error and try again. After version 0.28, the timeout was increased to 5minutes, i.e. the download should finish b
  2. The upstream service is down for some reason. This is extremely rare. Please try again after some time.
  3. The installation process fails for some reason. This is the hardest to suggest a fix. Your best bet is to retry the command. If everything fails, write to support@shepherd.watch and attach screenshots.

Release notes

  1. From version 0.28 onwards, the timeout was increased to 5 minutes, before it was only 30 seconds.
  2. (Unix Only): From version 0.28, prefixing the update command with sudo is not neccessary.
